Commitment

Tell Us About is operated by the North East Regional Employers’ Organisation (NEREO). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, regardless of how they access it or what assistive technology they rely on.

This means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen or becoming unreadable
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard alone
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader, including recent versions of NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver

We have also tried to make the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet (abilitynet.org.uk/at-home/computer-and-internet-accessibility) has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

This website is fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, the current applicable standard under the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

The site was built and audited against WCAG 2.2 AA from the outset, with contrast ratio calculations carried out across the colour palette, and checks for keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility and semantic structure built into the development process.

Known limitations

Whilst we have audited and built the Tell Us About website itself to WCAG 2.2 AA, the survey forms used to collect responses are provided by Podio, a third-party platform operated by Progress. We do not control the accessibility of the Podio survey form embed, and it may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA in all cases.

  • Survey response forms (the embedded Podio element on each survey page) may have accessibility limitations that are outside our direct control, as they are generated by a third-party platform.
  • PDF reports linked from or referenced on the site, where produced as downloadable exports, may not in all cases be fully screen-reader optimised.

If you encounter a specific barrier in a survey form or document, please contact us using the details below, and we will either provide the information in an alternative format or work with you to complete the survey another way.

If you need information on this website in a different format, such as an accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille, please contact us:

Reporting accessibility problems

We are always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find a problem not listed in this statement, or you think we are not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact us using the details above.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the “accessibility regulations”). If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS):

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

NEREO is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is fully compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA, with the exception of certain third-party content outlined under Known Limitations above. Survey forms supplied by Podio are considered third-party content under the accessibility regulations, and NEREO is not legally required to fix accessibility issues within that third-party platform, though we will assist anyone who experiences a barrier.

How we tested this website

This website was tested for compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA using a combination of automated tools, including WAVE (wave.webaim.org) and the axe browser extension, and manual testing, including keyboard-only navigation, screen reader testing, and colour contrast ratio calculations across the site’s teal and navy colour palette.
